In early 2011, the North Carolina General Assembly submitted a budget proposal including significant cuts to educational programs. The proposal includes complete elimination of state funding for the Governor’s School program. If the budget is approved as is, the program will be at serious risk of cancellation in 2012 and beyond.
Continued support of Governor’s School by the state is a key step in securing our short-term future. More than ever, we work to raise the public’s awareness of the benefits that Governor’s School has brought to our children and our state. We ask for your help in achieving this goal.
Please take a moment to write to the following legislators in support of Governor’s School, with the request that state funding be continued throughout the 2012 and 2013 sessions.
Senator Peter Brunstetter, Appropriations/Base Budget Co-Chairman

We sincerely appreciate the efforts of those alumni, parents and educators who have already contacted their representatives in support of the program. The Foundation remains focused on making Governor’s School accessible to North Carolina youth for generations to come.
